Values
of our Congregation
The
congregation has worked together to compile this
list of values.
We
continue to be a mission congregation, open to
all people, where God is growing gracious followers
of Jesus. During the year we have talked about
our core values as a congregation. These values
keep surfacing.
- Christ
is our King and Lord.
- Christ
the King is a congregation made of a very
diverse group of people. Some have a deep spiritual
history and others are new to the faith. Some
are conservative and others are liberal. Our
shared confession that Christ is our Lord holds
us together as a community of faith. Our congregation
seeks to be Christ centered and Gospel driven.
- We
are committed to being open to all people.
- Gods
Spirit invited us and called Gods children
to welcome us. Therefore we also seek to be
an inviting and welcoming community, so that
all might find forgiveness, healing and wholeness
in Jesus.
- We
are all called to be growing Christians.
- We
are called by Gods Spirit grow deeper
in faith, hope and love. At the same time we
are called to be supportive of all those who
God has called to join us in this journey of
Christian growth. Whether young or old, we all
have more to learn about our God, our faith,
ourselves and our world. We seek to be as faithful
and effective as possible in passing on the
gift of faith we have received and living the
faith that has found us.
- All
the baptized are Gods gifted ministers
and important members of Christ the Kings
ministry team.
- As
a community of faith we are called to help people
identify, explore and develop their gifts. Stewardship
has to do with taking care of, developing and
sharing all the gifts God has given to us. Stewardship
has to do with all of life, not just the church.
- Our
faith informs and shapes our everyday life.
- As
practicing Christians we are not perfect, and
yet God has chosen us and chosen to work through
our lives and callings in everyday life.
- God
longs to grow us deeper in community with one
another.
- God
has called us to share our lives, our joys and
our sorrows with one another. Through a variety
of strategies we seek to deepen our relationships
to one another.
- Jesus
calls us to love children and all people.
- God
has given us the opportunity to touch many young
people and their families. All of us are called
to be youth ministers. We are also called to
care for one another across the generations.
- We
worship God and our Lord Jesus with a variety
of languages and styles.
- The
diversity of our worship is built on the deep
traditions of Gods people, but celebrates
the creativity and diversity of Gods Spirit
work in our time.
- We
love people in the midst of tragedy and crisis.
- Because
of this congregations history we have
a special place in our heart for those in crisis
or tragedy.
- All
people are precious children of God. In a year,
which included wrestling with genetic engineering,
the beginning of a recession and the sudden
shock of the Sept. 11th disaster, we have been
reminded to not take this value for granted.
