Robert Bertrand, 68, of Sleepy Eye, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, at Sleepy Eye Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-9:30 a.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye. There will be a K.C. rosary at 4 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Marion of Sleepy Eye; children, Debbie and husband Trixie Heiderscheidt of Sleepy Eye, Denise and husband Jim Tauer of Plymouth, Bob Jr. and wife Sherri Woelfel of Redwood Falls and Bill of Rochester; eight grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law Janet and Fred Tauer of Sleepy Eye, Bernice and Jerome Schneider of White Bearr Lake and Sandy and Dave Runing of White Bear Lake; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marlyn and Judy Sellner of New Ulm and Carol and David Drown of Marshall; mother, Anna of Sleepy Eye; mother-in-law, Frieda Sellner of Sleepy Eye; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, William H. Bertrand, father-in-law, Roman P. Sellner and many aunts and uncles.
He was born on Feb. 16, 1933, in New Ulm to William H. and Anna (Hoppe) Bertrand. He attended country school and graduated from St. Mary's High School in Sleepy Eye in 1951. He married Marion Sellner on Jan. 19, 1953, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. They lived in Sleepy Eye. He worked at Steinke Seidl Lumber, was a butter maker at Sleepy Eye Farmers Creamery, manager of Siegel Creamery and was chief engineer at the Sleepy Eye Power Plant until he retired in 1995. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Sleepy Eye Fraternal Order of Eagles serving as past Worthy President and currently as secretary.
