Dick Kimmel and Adam Granger have collaborated for duo performances since the 1980's performing throughout the United States and Europe.  When these two musicians take to the stage together, magical moments happen as the duo weaves through a program that includes hot picking (on guitar, mandolin, and clawhammer banjo) and exceptional singing on a thoughtful selection songs.

Both Dick and Adam are well-recognized  individually for many decades of performances, recordings, songwriting, and various other involvements with bluegrass and old-time music.  On stage, Dick Kimmel & Adam Granger feature a variety of traditional bluegrass music, old-time tunes, original songs and instrumentals, and 'off-the-wall' numbers.

Adam Granger has played guitar for more than 40 years.  His 1970's LP recording with Dudley Murphy, "Twin Picking" (Grass Mountain Records), was a monumental step for flatpicked guitar.  Soon thereafter, Adam released a second landmark for flatpicked guitar, "Granger's Fiddle Tunes for Guitar," a collection of more than 500 guitar tablatures for tunes from the USA, Canada, and the UK.  Adam has been featured as a regular columnist for Flatpick Guitar magazine for more than a decade.

Adam's guitar playing reached a wide audience with the legendary Powdermilk Biscuit Band.  During the 1980's, this band  performed regularly for "Prairie Home Companion," a popular public radio program in the USA for which Adam performed, wrote scripts, and substitute hosted.   During the 1990's, Adam cohosted and was a regular performer for The Cedar Social, a television program featuring bluegrass, folk, and ethnic music.

For the past 35 years, Adam has taught guitar and stage presence for workshops and music camps, such as the Puget Sound Guitar Workshop and Camp Bluegrass (in Levelland, Texas).  Adam has 8 albums to his credit, including 3 of his original music.  Also, he has composed scores for more than a dozen television documentaries, plays and movies.  His latest CD, "Adam Granger - Of Mice and Men," is a collection of original guitar instrumentals.  Today, Adam is in demand as a performer, guitar workshop instructor, and festival MC.

Dick Kimmel has been associated with traditional bluegrass and old-time country music for more than 40  years as a performer, recording artist, and songwriter.  Dick has performed throughout North America and Europe, sharing the stage with a variety of artists and bands that include Del McCoury and the Dixie Pals, Hazel Dickens, and Dwight Diller.  Dick has toured Europe 6 times during the past decade as a solo performer, with his band Dick Kimmel & Co, and with Adam Granger.

Dick has been involved with a variety of  bluegrass and old-time music activities.  For more than 30 years, he has written articles and monthly columns for bluegrass and old-time publications throughout the world.  During the 1970's, Dick served as the Clawhammer Banjo Editor for Banjo Newsletter, writing tablatures and old-time music columns and establishing an old-time following for that magazine.  Fans of bluegrass are probably most familiar with Dick's hundreds of record reviews and articles for Bluegrass Unlimited during the 1970's-1990's.  Also, Dick conducts workshops on mandolin, clawhammer banjo, traditional singing, and the history of bluegrass music.

Articles written about Dick Kimmel, his music, and bands have appeared in a variety of managzines including Bluegrass Unlimited (November 1994 and April 2005) and Bluegrass Now (January 2001).  The June 2001 Banjo Newsletter featured a cover story on Dick Kimmel and his clawhammer banjo playing.  His more than two dozen recordings over the past 35 years include 7 bluegrass/old-time CDs for Copper Creek Records and cuts on compilation recordings released in the United States and Europe.  His most recent solo recording, "Dick Kimmel - Fishin' Creek Blues" (Copper Creek Records CC-0173), focuses on his clawhammer banjo playing.  Mel Bay Publications released a book of tablatures of Kimmel's banjo playing from this recording.
