Donald Augustin, 77, of Springfield, died Sunday at Redwood Falls Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Church of the Japanese Martyrs, Leavenworth, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-9:30 a.m. Thursday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. A combined Knights of Columbus and Holy Family Society rosary will be at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia of Springfield; sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Judy Augustin of Comfrey, Kevin and Phyllis Augustin of Sleepy Eye; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Rodney Newman of Bloomington; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, sister, Marie Jensen of Glenwood; and brother and sister-in-law, Francis (Pat) and Millie Augustin of Springfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Cyrilla and husband Leander Loreis; Germaine Lang and husband Norbert; and brother-in-law Alton Jensen.
He was born Sept. 12, 1922, in Mulligan Township to Frank and Ella (Cady) Augustin. He married Sylvia Helget on June 5, 1945, in Sleepy Eye. They farmed in Mulligan Township. They operated a family butchering business. He belonged to Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth where he served on the council, served as lector and sang in the choir. He belonged to the Knight of Columbus. He was a member Holy Family Society of the Catholic Aid Association where he served as financial secretary. He received the Bishop's Medal of Service and Community Award from the Holy Family Society. He played baseball with Mulligan and Leavenworth.
