Wayne Augustin, 55, of Comfrey, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, at his home.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Comfrey with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. toay and 7:30-10 a.m. Saturday at Sturm Funeral Home, Comfrey. A parish prayer service is 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Judy of Comfrey; son, Keith and wife Kathy of Stewartville; daughter, Wendy and husband Tom Helget of Byron; five grandchildren; brother, Kevin and wife Phyllis of Sleepy Eye; and sister, Brenda and husband Rod Newman of Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald in May 2000.
He was born May 21, 1946, in Sleepy Eye to Donald and Sylvia (Helget) Augustin. He attended grade school at Japanese Martyrs School in Leavenworth. He graduated from Comfrey High School in 1964. He belonged to St. Paul's Catholic Church in Comfrey and the Land 0' Lakes GTO Club. He entered the Army National Guard following high school, serving at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. He married Judy Zwaschka on April 8, 1967, in Comfrey. They lived in Leavenworth for six years before moving to Comfrey. He worked part time at Del Monte, Tri County Cooperative in Darfur, Walt's Skelly Station in Comfrey and Feeken Gate Company. He drove truck for Marlo Arnsdorf, worked at STS Construction, and drove truck for Randy Halter Trucking, all while farming. In 1999, he bought his own semi truck, working through Halter Trucking.
