Marion Domeier, 79, formerly of 909 North Washington Street and Ridgeway on German in New Ulm, died Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2002, at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 pm today and 7:30 - 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The Christian Mothers Society will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. today at the Cathedral. The St. Elizabeth Catholic Aid Society will pray the rosary at 6:30 p.m. and there will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m., both today at the funeral home.
Marion is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Florence and Dennis Saffert of New Ulm; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Phyllis Domeier of rural New Ulm, and Randy Domeier and Jean Kiecker of New Ulm; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Melvin Domeier on May 30, 1998; a great-granddaughter, Miranda Wurtzberger; and brother Robert Hillesheim.
Marion was born Oct. 2, 1922, in Sleepy Eye, to Bernard and Minnie (Lang) Hillesheim. On April 9, 1940, she married Melvin Domeier at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage they owned and operated the Golden Rule Ballroom in Klossner, and Mel's Roller Rink in New Ulm. She worked at the Loretto Hospital for eight years in the housekeeping and the laundry departments.
She loved her fish, flowers and her gardens and old tyme music. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, the St. Elizabeth Catholic Aid Society and the Christian Mothers Society all in New Ulm.
