Richard E. Gleisner, 71, of rural New Ulm died Thursday, November 10, 2005 at his home in rural New Ulm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2005 at the St. George Catholic Church in St. George with Father John Berger celebrating. Burial will be in the St. George Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Monday and will continue from 7:30 until 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a rosary by the St. George Catholic Aid Society at 6:30 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. both Monday at the funeral home.

Richard is survived by sisters, Rita Maurer of New Ulm and Betty Gleisner of Mendota Heights; by brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Agnes Gleisner of New Ulm and Kenneth and Donna Gleisner of Winthrop. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Karen Massey, a nephew, Gary Gleisner, and a niece, Dianne O'Brien.

Richard Edward Gleisner, the son of Fred and Mary (Stadtherr) Gleisner, was born on April 3, 1934 in Cairo Township, Renville County. He attended District #16 Country School in West Newton Township, St. George Catholic School, and then the New Ulm Public High School. During his life he work at various jobs including several different road constructions companies. Richard loved feeding the dear that came into his farm yard looking for food. He was a member of the St. George Catholic Church and the St. George Catholic Aid Society.
