Marvin Helget, 67, of Sleepy Eye, died Monday, April 19, 1999.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30-9:30 a.m. Friday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye. There will be a combined Catholic Aid and Knights of Columbus Rosary at 4 p.m. and a Parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; daughter, Ann and husband Michael Guldan of New Ulm; sons, Michael and wife Candace of Sleepy Eye, James and wife Pam of Hutchinson, Kevin and Jeffery, both of Sleepy Eye; 11 grandchildren; brothers, Edwin of Sleepy Eye and Vernard and wife Delorse of Sleepy Eye; sisters, Adella and husband Raymond Tauer of Hanska and Lucille and husband Robert Brand of New Ulm; brothers-in-law, Duane Rohlik of Seaforth and Don and wife Eileen Ryan of St. Peter; and sisters-in-law, Betty and husband Douglas Russell of Redwood Falls, Jackie Rohlik of Wood Lake, Rosemary and husband Leroy Panitzke of Belview and Marian Rohlik of St. Michael.
He was preceded in death by sister and brother-in-law Elvira and Stanley Wiltscheck; brothers-in-law, Bernard and Eugene Rohlik; and sisters-in-law Clara Ryan and Alice Helget.
He was born March 17, 1932 in Stark Township, Brown County, to Louis and Mary (Haala) Helget. He grew up in Stark Township. He attended District 45 and St. Mary's School. He married Donna Rohlik on April 14, 1953 in Seaforth. They farmed until 1986, when he was forced to retire due to ill health from Alzheimer's Disease. At the time of his death he was a resident of Sleepy Eye Care Center. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Catholic Aid, Knights of Columbus, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Sportsmen's Club and the Stark Baseball board. He coached Stark baseball.
