Robert Helget, 51, died Friday, May 28, 1999 at his home.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Morgan, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday and 8-9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Nelson Funeral Home, Morgan. There will be a Catholic Aid Association Rosary 6:30 p.m. Monday and a parish scripture sharing service 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
He is survived by brothers and sisters, Betty Ott and husband Willie of Shakopee, Lorraine Helget of Redwood Falls, Theresa Hansen and husband Pete of Northfield, Vt., George Helget and wife Anita of Mound, and Alice Drew and husband Alfred of Crookston; nephews and nieces; and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother Frank and sister Mary Ann Thompson.
He was born May 12, 1948 in Springfield to Roland and Lucille (Petsinger) Helget. He grew up in Morgan and attended elementary school at St. Michael's Catholic School. He attended high school at Morgan Public School. In 1966 he entered the Navy and served for four years aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ranger during the Vietnam War. After serving he moved to Brandon and worked as a trucker for 25 years. He then went to work for Pillsbury for seven years and lived in Mound. He was a member of the VFW.
