Mrs. John (Mary) Helget, 79 of RFD 2, New Ulm, died Tuesday at Sioux Valley Geriatrics Unit, where she had been a resident since September 1982.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Searles, with burial in the church cemetary.

Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. today at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm, with a parish prayer at 7:30 p.m. followed by a Christian Mothers Society rosary at 8 p.m.

She is survived by daughter Mrs. Eugene (Donna) Groebner of rural New Ulm; sons Leander of New Ulm and Johnny L. of rural New Ulm; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sisters Mrs. Otto (Annie) Neidecker of New Ulm, Mrs. Alfred (Rose) Fischer of Sleepy Eye and Mrs. Florian (Leona) Helget of Springfield; and brothers Joseph Rothmeier of Springfield and Henry Rothmeier of Sleepy Eye. She was preceded in death by her husband, John F., Oct. 30, 1981; brothers Frank and George; and sisters Katie and Louis.

She was born Aug. 4, 1904 in Stark Township, Brown County, to George and Lena (Wurtzberger) Rothmeier. She was married to John F. Helget Oct. 9, 1928, in Sleepy Eye. They farmed near Sleepy Eye for 10 years, then farmed in Cottonwood Township, Brown County. She was a member of the Christian Mothers Society in Searles.
