Florence Hillesheim, 87, of Wabasso, died Saturday, April 1, 2006, in Season's Hospice Home in Redwood Falls.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 4, in St. Anne?s Catholic Church in Wabasso with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. on Monday and continue Tuesday one hour prior to services in St. Anne's Catholic Church in Wabasso. There will be a parish prayer service and CCW Rosary Monday evening at 7 p.m. in St. Anne's.
Arrangements are being handled by the Sunset Funeral and Cremation Association of Echo and Wabasso.
Florence Marie Hillesheim was born October 4, 1918 in Burnsville Township, Brown County, Minn., to Joseph and Anna (Tauer) Groebner. She was baptized on October 20, 1918, and confirmed on May 11, 1936, in St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield. She grew up on the family farm near Springfield and attended Country School District 71 near Sanborn. On April 24, 1940 she was united in marriage to Walter Hillesheim in St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield. They settled on a farm near Wabasso, farming until retiring in 1980. They then moved into Wabasso where she has lived since. Walter died on May 6, 2000. Florence belonged to St. Anne's Catholic Church in Wabasso, was a member of the CCW, St. Monica Society and the Catholic Aid Association.
Family was first and foremost in Florence's life along with her faith. She enjoyed cooking, baking, quilting, and playing cards and bingo.
She is survived by her children, Arlene Bushard and husband Lynn of Garfield, MN, Theresa Hohenstein and husband Darwin of New Ulm, MN, Gerald Hillesheim and wife Ruthie of Mankato, MN, Eugene Hillesheim and wife Jean of Morton, MN, LaVonne Mathiowetz and husband LeRoy of Wabasso, MN, David Hillesheim and wife Lauri of Wabasso, MN and Janet Jacobs and husband Gary of New Ulm, MN. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and her sister Rosella Hillesheim of Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Walter; four brothers, Leo, Edward, George and Gerhardt Groebner and two sisters, Anna Matter and Mary Ann Keil.
