Catherine Johnson , 93, formerly of 1111 N. Jefferson St. in New Ulm, died Sunday, July 13, 2003, at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2003, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. today and from 7:30 - 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The Christian Mothers Society will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. today at the Cathedral. There will be a rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. both today at the funeral home.

Catherine is survived by her husband Harold Johnson of Madelia; daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Jerome Schmidt of Madelia, and Marian and Darrel Roybal of Grand Junction, Colo.; son and daughter-in-law Edward and Rose Johnson of Baxter; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Clara Schroepfer of Sleepy Eye, Angie Weber of Gibbon, and Anna Hacker of Lafayette; and brothers and sister-in-law, Leonard Sellner, and Clement and Dorothy Sellner all of Sleepy Eye. She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters; five brothers; and a son-in-law, Daniel Schmidt.

Catherine was born on Jan. 27, 1910, in Albin Township, Brown County, to Christopher and Marianna (Schloegel) Sellner. She married Harold J. Johnson on Oct. 21, 1940, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. After marriage they lived in Sleepy Eye for 27 years and then moved to New Ulm. She had worked at Del-Monte in Sleepy Eye and also was employed in housekeeping for people and businesses. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting and gardening. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm and was a member of the Christian Mothers Society.
