Alfred H. Landsteiner, 85, of Rt. 1 New Ulm, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999 at New Ulm Medical Center.
Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Saturday at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial
in the Catholic Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm veterans organizations.
Visitation is 4 - 8 p.m. today and will continue 7:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. St. Joseph Catholic Aid Council will pray the rosary at 6:30 p.m., and there will be a parish prayer service at at 7:30 p.m.today at the funeral home.
He is survived by sisters and brother-in-law, Helen M. Berg of New Ulm and Marie and Leo Stueber of rural New Ulm; brother and sister-in-law, Joseph J. and Marie Landsteiner of rural New Ulm; and by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brother, Otto Landsteiner; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lauretta and John Schmidt, Jr., Alice and Archie McQuiston, Agnes and Leonard Schaefer,and Anna and LeRoy Zenk; and brother-in-law. Edmund L. Berg.
He was born Sept. 14, 1913, in Milford Township, Brown County to John J. and Ottilia (Hillesheim) Landsteiner. He attended District 8 in Milford Township and Holy Trinity Catholic Schools in New Ulm. He served in the National Guard during WWII serving in Kodiac, Alaska. After his military service he returned to the New Ulm area where he farmed in Milford Township until retiring in 1978. He was a member and past usher at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity and St. Joseph Catholic Aid Council. He was a member of the Seifert-Bianchi American Legion Post 132, Disabled American Veterans Albert - Nagel Post 1648 VFW.
He became a resident of Lafayette Good Samaritan Center in February 1998.
