Paul V. Mathiowetz, Milwaukee, Wisc., formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Sunday, July 13, 2003. Funeral services were July 16 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Milwaukee, with interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Paul was born July 19, 1921, at home in Eden Township, Brown County, the son of Frank and Margaretha (Rauch) Mathiowetz. He grew up on the farm, and attended school in District 35, Eden Township. Paul helped on the farm until he was drafted to serve in WWII at the age of 21 years. From Sept. 8, 1942, until Oct. 25, 1945, Paul served in northern Africa and Italy. Paul married Barbara Schmitz of Milwaukee on Aug. 20, 1949. He worked as a tool and die maker in Milwaukee. Paul and Barbara were blessed with three children, Michael, Judith and Denis.
Paul is survived by his sister, Anna Zinniel, Winnebago; brothers, Martin Mathiowetz, Redwood Falls; Lawrence Mathiowetz, Richland, Wash.; and Andrew Mathiowetz of Morgan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; parents; sister, Estelle Mathiowetz; brothers, Francis Mathiowetz and George Mathiowetz.
