Abby the Terrier
My children and I brought
Abby home January of 2003.
We’ve only had Abby for a few weeks, but already we know
we made the right
decision. We hadn’t been looking for another
pet for very long and
really didn’t expect to bring a dog home
so soon. But she was so sweet and
Joni couldn’t say enough nice
things about her. So, after a couple of days
of getting used to the house,
declaring dominance over our other pooch, Tigger,
and winning my 9 year old
daughters heart completely, it’s as if she’s
been here all along. She loves
to play tug with us or Tigger and
although she’s still a little bit skittish,
she’s taken a real shine to my
husband . Ironically, he didn’t grow up
with animals at all, so this
has been a really great experience for him.
He loves both of our dogs
now where a year
ago he almost told me no when I bought Tigger.
Anyway, Miss Abby is spoiled rotten now, has run of the house all
day
and sleeps in my daughter’s bed with her and Tigger at night.
She
chases Tigger all over our backyard which is a double lot fenced in.
With her long legs she can run so fast, but Tigger, a Boston Terrier,
can
out-corner her so it’s a blast to watch them. I run a daycare out
of
my home and all of our daycare parents (and children, of course)
are happy to
have the dogs around as most are too busy to have their own.
We all
think it’s a great experience for children to interact with animals.
They learn compassion, care, responsibility and respect for
another living
thing. We’re all glad to have Abby in our
lives and I know
she’s happy with us as well.
Thank you!
