ALICE EKSTROM
Funeral
services for Alice Ekstrom, 97, of Sutherland, formerly of Aurelia, will
be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, November 6, 2008, at the Bethel Lutheran Church
in Sutherland, with Rev. Leroy Riemer officiating. Burial will be in the
Cherokee Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00
P.M. to 8:00 P.M., with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00, at the
Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has
been established.
Alice
Anna Augusta Iversen was born June 7, 1911, in Charter Oak, Iowa,
the daughter of George and Minnie (Rademaker) Iversen. She attended
school in Kearney, NE, graduating in 1930. On September 18, 1937, Alice
married Arvid Gustav “Gust” Ekstrom in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Alice
was a homemaker, and worked as a cook at Sunset Knoll Retirement Home in
Aurelia. She retired in 1972. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church
in Sutherland, and enjoyed crocheting afghans for family and friends.
Alice
died Monday, November 3, 2008, at the Sutherland Care Center in
Sutherland, Iowa.
Preceding Alice in death were her parents,
her husband Gust on October 14, 1966, one son, LaVern Ekstrom, and one
sister, Louise Bomberger.
Alice is survived by two sons and their
wives, Richard and Colette Ekstrom of Clarkston, WA, and Marvin and Ada
Ekstrom of Darien, GA. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, David
Ekstrom, Barbara Lopez, Michael Ekstrom, Robert Ekstrom, Gary Ekstrom,
Arvid Ekstrom, Darrell Ekstrom, Deb Helms, Tanya Gaer, and Daniel
Ekstrom, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
