Memorial
services for Bernadine Glawe, 77, of Aurelia, will be held at 11:00 A.M.
on Monday, February 25, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church in
Aurelia, with Rev. Alva Hohl officiating. There will be no visitation.
The Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia is in charge of arrangements.
Bernadine Joan Godfrey was born April 20, 1930, in Algona, IA,
the daughter of Lloyd and Oma (Steinhilber) Godfrey. She graduated from
the Aurelia High School and attended Iowa State Teachers College in
Cedar Falls for two years, graduating with her degree in elementary
education. She was teaching school in Boxholm, IA, when she married
William Charles Glawe on December 25, 1950 in Adel. She then joined Bill
on the family farm south of Aurelia. She was a member of the
Congregational United Church of Christ in Sioux City. She enjoyed
gardening, sports, and especially her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Bernadine died Thursday, February 21, 2008,
at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
Preceding Bernadine in death were her
parents, her stepmother, Zelma (Meier) Godfrey, her husband Bill on
January 26, 2007, and an infant sister, Geraldine Godfrey.
Survivors include her three daughters; Pat
and her husband Roger Honsbruch of Sioux City, IA, Sharon Glawe of
Kissimmee, FL, and Donna Glawe of Cherokee. Also surviving are four
grandchildren; Heather and her husband Louie Centeno of Kissimmee, Greg
and his wife Megann Honsbruch of West Lafayette, IN, Brent Honsbruch of
Parachute, CO, and Kelsey Honsbruch of Sioux City, five
great-grandchildren; Dylan and Devin Centeno, and Carter, Keira, and
Kaylie Honsbruch, one sister, LaVonne Godfrey of Audubon, IA, and one
brother, Dennis and his wife Sandy Godfrey of Downingtown, PA, and other
relatives and friends.
