Funeral services for Betty
Bruns, 79, of Aurelia, will be 1:30 P.M. Friday, July 21, 2006, at the
First Congregational Church in Aurelia, with Pastor Bruce Rapp
officiating. Burial will be in the Liberty Township Cemetery in rural
Calumet, IA. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00, with the
family being present from 6:00 to 8:00, at the Redig Funeral Home in
Aurelia.
Betty died Monday, July 17,
2006, at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee.
Betty Lois Emma Marie Langholz
was born December 26, 1926, the daughter of Edward and Martha
(Jurgensen) Langholz on a farm near Calumet. She graduated from the
Calumet High School in 1946. On May 23, 1947 she married Ralph Edward
Bruns. Betty was an active member of the First Congregational Church in
Aurelia; she was baptized into the Christian Faith on February 13, 1927,
and was confirmed on April 18, 1943. She cleaned houses and the Aurelia
Elevator office for many years. She and Ralph enjoyed spending time at
the Lakes, gardening and working in her flower garden, playing cards,
cooking and canning and especially spending time with her family.
Preceding Betty in death were
her parents, her husband Ralph on July 7, 2002, daughter, Bernita,
grandson, Kevin, brother, Orval (Sam) Langholz, sister, Pauline, and
brother-in-law, Leo Bruns.
Survivors include one daughter,
Nadine Bruns of Sioux City, one son, Deloy and his wife Ronda Bruns of
Holstein, five grandchildren, great-grand children, one brother, Keith
Langholz of Kansas, one sister, Ruth Ann Bruns of Sutherland, many
nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.
