Funeral
services for Clayton “Cullie” Lehnhardt, 79, of Aurelia, will be 10:30
A.M. Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in
Aurelia, with Pastor Larry Lemke officiating. Burial will be in the
Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Aurelia. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00
P.M. to 8:00 P.M., with the family being present from 6:00 to 8:00, at
the Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia.
Cullie died
Saturday, March 12, 2005, at the Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in
Cherokee, Iowa.
Clayton
Burdette Lehnhardt was born October 13, 1925, the son of Edward and Emma
(Radke) Lehnhardt in Aurelia, Iowa. He graduated from the Aurelia High
School in 1943. Cullie served in the US Army. On April 23, 1960 he
married Lola Jean Struve in Sioux City, Iowa. He worked at the Skelly
Station in Aurelia, and for Wilson’s in Cherokee. Cullie was a member
of the Aurelia Fire Department from May 14, 1954 to May 8, 1964. On
August 11, 1987, he entered Sunset Knoll Retirement Home in Aurelia.
Cullie was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, and the
Grashoff-McManus American Legion Post #390 of Aurelia. He loved
fishing, golf, bowling, and all sports.
Preceding
Cullie in death were his parents, two brothers, Marvin and Arlin, his
step-father, Ed Herrig, and one brother-in-law, Erwin Anderson.
Survivors
include his wife Lola of Aurelia, one son, Jeffrey Lehnhardt and his
wife Linda Fritz of Verona, Kentucky, two daughters, Sally Lehnhardt and
her husband Michael Platzke of St. Charles, IL, and Celeste Christensen
of Seattle, WA, and one granddaughter, Krista Nicole Lehnhardt. Also
surviving are two sisters, Ruth Anderson of Marcus, and Phyllis and her
husband Richard Munster of Hiwasse, AR, and two sisters-in-law, Ester
Lehnhardt of New Orleans, LA, Helen Lehnhardt of Madison, WI.
