CLETA M. THOMAS
Graveside services for Cleta M. Thomas, 99,
of Storm Lake, will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 6, 2006, at the Storm
Lake Cemetery, with Rev. Jack Barber officiating. Visitation will be
Monday from 11:00 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. at the Church Of Christ in Storm
Lake. The Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia is in charge of arrangements.
Cleta died Friday, February 3, 2006, at her
home in Lakeside, Iowa.
Cleta Maude Miller was born July 31, 1906,
at Stotesbury, Missouri, the daughter of Edward and Edna (Clement)
Miller. Cleta attended country school, and graduated from the Sheridan
High School in 1924. She received her Normal Training in Cedar Falls.
She then taught country school at Ventura, Williamson, Tiporary, and
Olmitz for ten years. On August 13, 1935 Cleta married Richard (Dick)
Thomas in Princeton, Missouri.
Cleta enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting,
and canning. She was a member of the Church Of Christ and served the
church in many ways; taught Sunday school, was a member of the choir,
played the piano, and taught young adults. She was a member of Eastern
Star for more than 50 years.
Preceding Cleta in death were her parents,
her husband Dick on July 8, 2003, one brother, Clement Miller, and two
sisters, Lucille Anderson and Madalyn Clothier.
Survivors include one daughter, Joann and
her husband Tom Samsel of Storm Lake, one sister, Lavada Peterson of
Newell, one brother, Calvin and his wife Shirley Miller of Dayton, IA,
nieces and nephews, and longtime companion her dog Coco.
