Funeral services for Donna
Lydell, 86, of Aurelia, will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, February 12, 2008,
at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Alta, with Pastor Duane Olson
officiating. Burial will be in the Scandinavian Cemetery, rural Alta.
Visitation will be Monday from 2:00 to 8:00, with the family being
present from 2:00 to 4:00, at the Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia.
Donna died Friday, February 8,
2008, at the Sunset Knoll Nursing & Rehab Center in Aurelia.
Donna Joanna Rydstrom was born
October 14, 1921, the daughter of Emil and Ida (Nelson) Rydstrom near
Alta, IA. She graduated from Aurelia High School in 1939. On November
17, 1946, Donna married Roy David Lydell. The couple farmed west of
Alta then moved to Donna’s parents farm, and in 1952 they moved into
Aurelia. Donna was a life long member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in
Alta, being baptized on December 13, 1921, and confirmed on May 10,
1936. She was active in WELCA, Sunset Knoll Auxiliary, belonged to
Birthday Club, and Embroidery Club. After Roy’s death Donna worked as a
cook’s assistant at the Aurelia Community School, then Vilas & Company
in Storm Lake and as a nurses assistant at Sunset Knoll Nursing Home in
Aurelia for 10 years retiring at age 65.
Preceding Donna in death were
her parents, an infant son in 1958, and her husband Roy on January 19,
1972.
Survivors include her son and
daughter-in-law, David & Darlene Lydell of Alta, one sister and her
husband, Evelyn & Mervin Gustafson of Spirit Lake, nieces and nephews
and other relatives and friends.
