ELAINE BENGTSON
Funeral services for Elaine Bengtson, 80, of Aurelia, will be 10:30 A.M.
Monday, February 13, 2006, at the First Congregational Church in
Aurelia, with Pastor Bruce Rapp officiating. Burial will be in the
Scandinavian Cemetery, rural Alta. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00
P.M. to 7:00 P.M., with the family present from 2:00 to 5:00, at the
First Congregational Church. The Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia is in
charge of arrangements.
Elaine died Thursday, February
9, 2006, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident south of
Aurelia.
Elaine Booth was born September
8, 1925, the daughter of John and Margaret (Brangwin) Booth on the
family farm north of Alta, Iowa. Elaine graduated from the Aurelia High
School in 1942. She attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake for two
years and received her teaching certificate. She then taught for two
years at Fairview School. On December 21, 1946, Elaine married Marvin
(Sven) Bengtson at her family home. Elaine worked as a unit supervisor
at M. H. I. in Cherokee for 22 years.
Elaine enjoyed playing cards, golf, watching
sports, and spending time with her family. She was a member of the
First Congregational Church, Circle and other church organizations, and
the Sunset Knoll Auxiliary.
Preceding Elaine in death were
her parents, her husband Marvin on May 25, 1998, and brother-in-law Bill
McCabe.
Survivors include her children; Paula and
her husband Jim Weathers of Aurelia, Brian and his wife Maggie Bengtson,
and Jim and his wife Corinne Bengtson all of Kissimmee, Florida, seven
grandchildren; Heather and her husband Bob Tritchel, Kevin and his wife
Amanda Bengtson, Ken and his wife Debi Bengtson, Amanda, Adam and
Christopher Bengtson, and Bill Weathers, five great-grandchildren;
Lindsay and Megan Ramirez, and Joy, Eli, and Chandler Bengtson. Also
surviving are one sister, Lois McCabe of Freeland, Washington, one
sister-in-law, Chrystle Bengtson of Lake View, and nieces and nephews.
