ELDON (TONY) OTTO
Funeral services for Eldon
(Tony) Otto, 72, of Aurelia, will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, April 3, 2006 at
the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee, with Pastor Richard Arndt
officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Aurelia.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., with the family
present from 2:00 to 5:00, at the Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia.
Tony died Thursday, March 30,
2006, at St. Lukes Hospital in Sioux City, IA.
Eldon Frederick Otto was born December 1,
1933, the son of Elmer and Elda (Hoffmeier) Otto in Cherokee, IA. Tony
attended country school at Diamond Center through 7th grade
transferring into Aurelia Consolidated School where he graduated in
1953. Then he attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake for two
years. Tony then served his country in the United States Army for two
years. Tony farmed the family farm south of Aurelia and was employed by
France Grain and Feed and Walnut Grove in Cherokee. On August 6, 1961
Tony married LaVonne Huseman at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Hanover.
To this union two daughters were born, Carla and Synda. Tony was
Baptized and Confirmed into the Lutheran Faith and was a member of the
Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee where he held several offices, also
was a member of the Little Sioux Wildlife Association, he enjoyed
fishing, hunting, woodworking, spending time with family and friends and
was a life long Cleveland Indian fan.
Preceding Tony in death were his
parents, and one sister Margene Otto.
Survivors include his wife
LaVonne of Aurelia, two daughters, Carla and her husband Richard Banwell
of Alta and Synda and her husband Scott Jepsen of Ida Grove and two
grandchildren, Erica and Brian Banwell, and other relatives and friends.
