Funeral services for Elsie Steffens, 93, of
Aurelia will be Monday, November 12, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. at the First
United Methodist Church in Aurelia, with Pastor Harold Werley.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Burial will be
in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Aurelia. A memorial fund has been
established.
Elsie Ione Garner was born June 17, 1914,
the daughter of William and Florence (Buford) Garner, near Kingsland,
Arkansas. She attended country schools. On November 9, 1935 she married
William Royce Steffens in Fordyce, AR, after which they moved to Aurelia
and made their home. Royce and Elsie owned and operated Steffens
Plumbing and Heating. She was a member of the First United Methodist
Church in Aurelia. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, and playing cards.
Elsie died Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at
the Sunset Knoll Care and Rehab Center in Aurelia where she had a
resident since June 22, 2007.
Preceding Elsie in death were
her parents, her husband Royce on March 15, 1979, and two sisters, Ester
Irwin and Elizabeth Freer.
Survivors include her three sons; Artie and
his wife Jeanette Steffens of Tacoma, WA, Don and his wife Bonnie
Steffens of Waukon, IA, and Ron and his wife Eileen Steffens of Cumming,
GA., twelve grandchildren, Adam Steffens, Renee and husband John Deney,
Jackie Steffens, Katie and husband Larry Schwartzhoff, Betsy and husband
Chris Lonning, Neil and wife Jeana Steffens, Hugh and wife Nicole
Steffens, Alex Steffens, Aaron and wife Jennifer Steffens, Matthew
Steffens, Rebeca and husband Ryan Hodge, and Sarah and husband Wayne
Walter, and 19 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister,
Dorine Reaves of Warren, AR, one brother, Glen and his wife Hallie
Garner of Dallas, TX, one brother-in-law, Lynn Steffens, and many nieces
and nephews and friends.
