EUGENE
KASKEY
Funeral services for Eugene Kaskey, 85, of
Aurelia, will be 1:30 P.M. Thursday, September 23, 2004, at the St. Paul
Lutheran Church in Aurelia, with Pastor Larry Lemke officiating. Burial
will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Aurelia. Visitation will be
Wednesday from 2:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M., with the family being present
from 6:30 to 8:30, at the Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia.
Gene died Sunday, September 19,
2004, at the Sunset Knoll Retirement Home in Aurelia, where he had been
a resident since January 10, 2004.
Eugene Donald Kaskey was born
December 18, 1918, the son of Clarence and Clara (Radke) Kaskey near
Aurelia, Iowa. He attended school in Aurelia. On November 11, 1941,
Gene married Emma Aldag in Yuma, Arizona. Gene and Emma became the
parents of three children, Jo Ann, Kay, and Dale. Gene served in the
Army from August 27, 1942, until his honorable discharge on November 11,
1945. Gene worked for Guarantee Oil from 1945 to 1950, and farmed from
1951 until his retirement in 1978. Emma died February 16, 1981. On
June 22, 1984, Gene married Cynthia (Vermeer) Kolb at the St. Paul
Lutheran Church in Aurelia. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran
Church, the Aurelia Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed reading, playing golf and
cards as long as his vision allowed.
Preceding Gene in death were his
parents, his wife Emma, one grandson, Jeffrey Dye, an infant brother
Glen, and his sister, Delores Wharton.
Survivors include his wife
Cynthia of Aurelia, his three children, Jo Ann and her husband William
Dye and Kay and her husband Marty Brown all of Omaha, NE, and Dale and
his wife Cheryl Kaskey of Aurelia, eight grandsons, Brian Dye, Eric
Brown, Justin Brown, Jay Brown, Kenny Brown, Mike Kaskey, Curt Kaskey,
and Scott Kaskey, and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are six
step-children, Linda Romero of Brooklyn, IA, Donna her husband Craig
Hoadley of Sheldon, Merri and her husband Brad Johnson of Auburn, NE,
Sheree and her husband Louis Hausman of Cherokee, Rhonda and her husband
Doug Camarigg of Sioux City, and John and his wife Jill Kolb of Ames, 20
step-grandchildren, ten step-great-grandchildren, one brother, Vernon
and his wife Sandi Kaskey of Savannah, Georgia, one brother-in-law,
Charles Wharton of Aurelia, nieces and nephews and other relatives and
friends.
