EURELLA JOHNSON
Funeral services for Eurella Johnson, 102,
of Aurelia, IA, will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, November 19, 2004, at the
First United Methodist Church in Aurelia, with Pastor Jack Weida
officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Aurelia.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Redig Funeral
Home in Aurelia. Memorial gifts may be directed to the Sunset Knoll
Retirement Home Memory Garden.
Eurella died Wednesday, November 17, 2004,
at the Sunset Knoll Retirement Home in Aurelia, Iowa, where she became a
resident on February 19, 1997.
Eurella Cleone Waddell was born March 16,
1902, the only child of Frank D. and Mable (Hinkle) Waddell, on a farm
south of Aurelia, Iowa. She graduated from the Aurelia High School,
then attended Grinnell College for two years, and, in 1932 she graduated
from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. On December 26, 1935, Eurella
married George Avery Johnson. The couple farmed south of Aurelia before
moving into town. Eurellla was a member of the First United Methodist
Church in Aurelia her entire lifetime. She taught Sunday school and was
active in Circle and the Women’s Missionary Society. She was also
active in the Aurelia Heritage Center and the Women’s Garden Club
Preceding Eurella in death were her parents,
and her husband George on April 2, 1961.
Survivors include her adoptive loved ones,
Ole and Anita Hallquist of Aurelia, Allan and Todd Hallquist and their
families of Kansas City, Missouri, several cousins and friends.
