FRANCIS BERRY
Funeral services for Francis Berry, 83, of Aurelia, will be 10:30 A.M.
Thursday, May 28, 2009, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aurelia with
Pastor Larry Lemke officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill
Cemetery, rural Aurelia. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00 P.M. to
8:00 P.M., with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00, at the Redig
Funeral Home in Aurelia.
Francis Lee Berry was born on August 8, 1925, the son of John and
Blanche (Reeves) Berry at Lake View, IA. He graduated from the Lake View
High School in 1942. He served in the Army from 1945 to 1947. On
February 14, 1949 Francis married Velma Mae Busch at the St. Paul
Lutheran Church in Sac City, Iowa. He worked as a farm hand in Auburn,
Sac City, and Cherokee, and as custodian for the Aurelia Community
School from 1979 to his retirement in 1991. He was a member of the St.
Paul Lutheran Church in Aurelia, the American Legion for over 60 years,
and various square dance clubs. Francis enjoyed hunting, fishing,
playing slots, gardening, and playing cards.
Francis died Monday, May 25, 2009, at the Sunset Knoll Care and Rehab
Center in Aurelia.
Preceding Francis in death were his parents,
two brothers, Lawrence and Walter Berry, two sisters, Evelina Miller and
Lydia Pellesels.
Survivors include his wife,
Velma Berry of Aurelia, one son, Brent and his wife Nancy Berry of
Danbury, IA, one daughter, Susan and her husband Robert Scott of
Morrison, IL. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Jamie Dean, Justin
Dean, Kelli Dean, Ryan Scott, and Jessica Scott, one sister, Charlotte
and her husband Don Busch of Lake View, nieces and nephews, and other
relatives and friends.
