Funeral services for Genevieve
Jones, 92, of Kissimmee, FL formerly of Aurelia, will be 10:30 A.M.
Friday, February 1, 2008, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee,
with Pastor Jim Steen officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill
Cemetery, rural Aurelia. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00,
with the family being present from 6:00 to 8:00, at the Redig Funeral
Home in Aurelia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the
Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee.

January 23, 2008, at Kissimmee, FL.
Genevieve Cathrine Ostergaard
was born June 20, 1915, the daughter of Julius N. and Christine B. (Terkelsen)
Ostergaard near Dike, IA. She attended school in Cedar Falls graduating
from Cedar Falls High School in 1933. Then attended and graduated from
Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls with a B.S. in Business in
1937. Genevieve was a schoolteacher and while teaching in
Correctionville, Iowa is where she meet and later married Paul R. Jones
on June 1, 1941, in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The couple made there home in
Aurelia where they farmed. Genevieve was an active member of the
Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee where she was the first woman
being voted on the Church Council. She enjoyed playing cards competing
in bridge tournaments well into her 90’s. She enjoyed keeping up with
eight of her high school classmates with a chain letter they started in
1933 and is still active today. She was very proud of her Danish roots
celebrating special holidays with her homemade ableskivers and Krispy
Bars. In 1981 they retired to Kissimmee, FL.
Preceding Genevieve in death
were her parents, infant son, Clayton Howard in 1953, one sister, Ardell
and her husband Roy Johnson.
Survivors include her husband
Paul of Kissimmee, FL, one daughter Janis Gifford and her partner Tom
Sjoberg of Kissimmee, FL, three sons and their wives, Ron and Sue Jones
of Aurelia, Roger and Betty Ann Jones of Kissimmee, FL, and Bruce and
Deena Jones of Aurelia, 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, one
nephew Jerry Johnson of North Carolina, former daughter-in-law Kathy
Jones of South Dakota, and other relatives and friends.
