Funeral
services for Gloria D. Winterhof, 82, of Aurelia, will be 10:30 A.M.
Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aurelia,
with Pastor Larry Lemke officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill
Cemetery, rural Aurelia. Visitation will be Monday at the church from
2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00.
The Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia is charge of arrangements.
On
Sunday, December 11, 2011, Gloria Darlene (Otto) Winterhof went to be
with her Lord at Sunset Knoll Care and Rehab Center in Aurelia, Iowa.
Gloria was born December 25, 1928, the daughter of Lawrence and Esther (Manteufel)
Otto in Galva, Iowa. She graduated from Hayes Township High School in
1946. Gloria worked at a bank in Storm Lake until she married Wilmer
Louis Winterhof on June 25, 1950 at the St. John Lutheran Church in
Storm Lake. After moving to the farm in Aurelia, they joined St. Paul
Lutheran. Gloria was an active member in the Ladies Aid, Bible Study
groups, and enjoyed baking cookies for VBS. She was a lifelong
homemaker who liked to garden. She was a member of multiple card clubs,
loved to square dance, and traveled with several tour groups. Other
pleasures included reading, doing puzzles, and playing games with the
grandchildren.
Preceding Gloria in death were her parents, her husband Wilmer on
December 20, 2010, an infant son, brother Victor Otto and sister Donna
Jean Stille and her husband Richard Stille.
Gloria and Wilmer were blessed with five children; Gary and his wife Kim
Winterhof of Cedar Falls, IA, Bonnie and her husband Jim Lawler of
Columbia, MO, Judy and her husband John Van Heek of Crofton, NE, Dan and
his wife Lynn Winterhof of Aurelia, IA and Joni and her husband Larry
Klawitter of Waukee, IA. They have ten grandchildren; Heather and
husband Mason Fromm, Shannon and husband Travis Hill, Keaghan and
husband Anthony Bruscheon, Andrew Lawler, Sarah and husband Justin
Grayer, Natalie and husband Isaiah Muenzberg, Molly Van Heek and her
fiancé Brett Luebbe, Tanner and wife Allie Winterhof, Audrey and Gracie
Winterhof, and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her
brother Robert and his wife Marleen Otto of Storm Lake, IA, nieces and
nephews, and other relatives and friends.
