Herman Woltman
Memorial services for Herman Woltman, 65, of
Aurelia, will be 10:30 Friday, April 15, 2005, at the First United
Methodist Church in Aurelia, with Pastor Jack Weida officiating. There
will be no visitation. The Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia is in charge of
arrangements. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
Herman Harry Woltman was born on March 19,
1940 in Cherokee, Iowa, the son of Richard and Opal (Jenness) Woltman.
Herman attended school in Washta and Madelli, MN, graduating in 1958.
On October 1, 1971, Herman was united in marriage to Wanda Resene in Elk
Point, South Dakota. Herman worked at Love Tire Shop until he opened
his own business, Aurelia Vehicles, which he and his wife operated until
1995. He was the caretaker of Pleasant Hill Cemetery and Afton Township
Cemetery for many years. He also drove school bus for Aurelia Community
School for 14 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist
Church in Aurelia. Herman enjoyed motorcycles, old cars, Nascar events,
collected old style model cars and motorcycles, but his favorite thing
to do was be with his family.
Herman died Tuesday morning, April 12, 2005,
at the Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee. He is to be
remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Herman
wanted very much to stay with his family. He fought a very courageous
battle with cancer for over two years. He also had a great attitude
with everything in his life.
Preceding Herman in death were his parents,
and grandparents, Herman and Dolly Woltman and Harry and Blanche Jenness.
Survivors include his wife Wanda Woltman of
Aurelia, four daughters, Dena Woltman and her fiancé Terry Frix of
Aurelia, Cassie Woltman of Aurelia, and two daughters from a previous
marriage, Tammy Guite and her husband Greg of Wausau, WI, and Denise
King and her husband Ray of Ringley, WI, two sons, Brent Woltman and his
wife Trish of Aurelia, and Shawn Resene of Cedar Rapids, IA, ten
grandchildren, Elizabeth, Samantha, Brodie, Tim, Jenny, Jason, Jodi,
Christopher, Daniel, and Nicole. Also surviving are two brothers
Richard Woltman and his wife Margel of Courtland, MN, Rick Woltman and
his wife Chrystal of Cherokee, and two sisters Mary Jo Johnson and her
husband Jim of Aurelia, and Jeanie Woltman of Stateville, NC, other
family members include Darlene Blount of Cherokee, Joyce Woltman of
Cherokee and Lorilla Resene of Aurelia, several nieces, nephews, and
other friends.
