JANICE L. MACKAY
Memorial services for Janice L. Mackay, 76,
Alta, will be Monday, December 1, 2008, at 1:30 P.M. at the First
Presbyterian Church in Alta, with Pastor Craig Lee officiating. An
Eastern Star service will follow the memorial service at the church.
There will be no visitation. The Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia is in
charge of arrangements. A memorial fund has been established.
Janice Lee Fulks was born December 10, 1931
at Atlantic, Iowa, the daughter of Guy and Matilda (Lindeman) Fulks. She
attended school in Atlantic, graduating from the Atlantic High School in
1949. She worked in Dr. Needle’s office. On August 26, 1951, Janice
married Archibald John George Mackay, Jr. at the Presbyterian Church in
Atlantic. The couple made their home in Atlantic until moving to
Archie’s family farm at Aurelia in the spring of 1955.
Janice was a Rainbow Girl, a member of the
Alta Chapter of Order of Eastern Star, and Past Grand Electa of the
Grand Chapter of Iowa, a member of the Jolly Janes, and a member of the
First Presbyterian Church in Alta. She enjoyed dancing, sewing,
singing, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and helping on the farm. She
especially loved taking care of her grandchildren.
Janice died Friday, November 21, 2008, at
the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
Preceding Janice in death were her parents,
two sons, Iain in infancy, and David Mackay, one granddaughter, Angel
Marie Mackay, one brother, Max Fulks, and two sisters, Margaret
Hjortshoj and Jean Peterson.
Survivors include her husband Archie of
Alta, four daughters, Bonnie and her husband Roy Beukelman of Storm
Lake, Lori and her husband Clayton Diischer of Alta, Tami and her
husband James Douglas of Pewakee, WI and Robin and her husband Mark
Meyer of Algona, daughter-in-law, Annette Mackay of Fort Dodge, and
twelve grandchildren, Archie Mackay, Iain Mackay, Alex Mackay, Emily
Beukelman, Travis and his wife Robin Diischer, Ryan and his wife Allison
Diischer, Kyle and his wife Kelly Diischer, Corey and his wife Holly
Diischer, Shannon Douglas, Samantha Douglas, Gavin Meyer, and Tatum
Meyer, and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two
brothers-in-law, Robert and his wife Margaret Mackay of Bridgewater, VA
and James and his wife Anita Mackay of Manitoba, Canada, many nieces and
nephews, and other relatives and friends.
