Funeral
services for John F. Severson, 53, of Aurelia, will be Friday, February
3, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aurelia with
Pastor Larry Lemke officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill
Cemetery in Aurelia. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 P.M.
until 8:00 P.M., with the family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00, at
the Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia.
John
Frederick Severson was born September 5, 1952 in Storm Lake, IA,
the son of Oscar Norman and Joyce (Strader) Severson. He attended
school in Storm Lake. He received his degree in Social Work from Buena
Vista College in Storm Lake. On February 24, 1979, John married Linda
Tscherter at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aurelia, IA. John worked
as a drug counselor and resident treatment worker for M.H.I. in Cherokee
for ten years, and then as a social worker for Lutheran Social
Services. John loved music, playing guitar, keyboard, and saxophone,
and being with his family.
John died Monday, January 30, 2006, at his
home in Aurelia.
Preceding John in death were his parents and
his father and mother-in-law, Ernest and Phyllis Tscherter.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Severson
of Aurelia, three sons, Shawn Severson of Norfolk, NE, Jon and his
fiancé Lori Patterson of Lincoln, NE, and Cody Severson of Lincoln, NE,
one brother, Jim and his wife Marguerite Mouw of Salem, SC, one
brother-in-law and his wife, Mick and Guila Tscherter of Nevada, IA, one
sister-in-law and her husband, Sandi and Dale Witt of Spencer, nieces
and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
