LOREN DALE STEEMKE
Memorial
services for Loren Steemke, 89, of Aurelia, will be Saturday, November
24, 2007, at 10:30 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia
with Pastor Harold Werley officiating. There will be no visitation. A
memorial fund has been established. The Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia is
in charge of arrangements.
Loren
Dale Steemke was born August 15, 1918, the son of John R. and
Emma C. (Kludas) Steemke in Cherokee, Iowa. He graduated from the
Cherokee High School in 1936. On September 24, 1942 Loren married Arline
Virginia Minard at the Methodist Church in Storm Lake, Iowa. He farmed
in Iowa for thirty years before moving to California where he worked as
an inspector for Lockheed Aircraft. He retired in August of 1980. Loren
was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed working,
hunting, traveling, and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Loren died Wednesday, November 21, 2007, at
the Sunset Knoll Care and Rehab Center in Aurelia, where he had been a
resident since February 2, 2005.
Preceding Loren in death were his parents,
his wife Arline on July 6, 2007, and two sons, Ronald and Larry.
Survivors include his son Donald and his
wife Lisa Steemke of Aurelia, daughter-in-law Susan Steemke of Aurelia
and Los Angeles, CA, six grandchildren, David Steemke of Grand Forks,
ND, Kelly Wallace of San Diego, CA., Shannon Steemke of Gilbert, AZ,
Shawn Steemke of Aurelia, Christina Steemke of Littleton, CO, and
step-grandson Kevin Smith of Valley Springs, CA, and one great-grandson,
Sean Loren and Jacob Steemke of Aurelia, and other relatives and
friends.
