Funeral
services for Lorilla Resene, 91, of Aurelia, will be 10:30 Saturday,
July 15, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia, with
Pastor Harold Werley officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill
Cemetery, Aurelia. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00
P.M., with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00, at the Redig Funeral
Home in Aurelia.
Lorilla Mae
Whiting was born on November 29, 1914 in Aurelia, Iowa, the daughter of
Robert and Myrtle (Johnson) Whiting. Lorilla attended school in
Aurelia. At age 19 she married Floyd Anderson, and they farmed in the
Afton Township area. Floyd died on April 16, 1943. On August 17, 1948
Lorilla married Merlin Dale Resene at the Little Brown Church in Nashua,
IA. They continued to farm until 1961 when they built a new house and
moved into Aurelia. They owned and operated Aurelia Body Shop and
Vehicles for many years. Lorilla cleaned houses, was a farm wife, and
worked at Mental Health in Cherokee for 20 years. She was an active
member of the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia, Afton Friendship
Club, and numerous Bridge and card clubs. Lorilla’s greatest joys in
life were the people around her, from her family and all the time she
spent with them and all the events she attended with them, to all her
wonderful friends and the time they spent together.
Lorilla died
Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at her home in Aurelia.
Preceding
Lorilla in death were her parents, two husbands; Floyd Anderson, and
Merlin Resene on March 19, 1994, three sons; Ben, Bob, and Dick
Anderson, one daughter-in-law, Jan Anderson Webb, two sons-in-law; Don
Calvert and Herman Woltman, an infant granddaughter, Cynthia Anderson,
two sisters; Bonnie Barnett and Gladys Peck, and three brothers; infant
brother Harold, and Lawrence and Lyle Whiting.
Survivors
include one son, Mike Resene of Aurelia, three daughters; Sharon Lough
of Spencer, Jan Calvert of Eagle Grove, IA, and Wanda Woltman of
Aurelia, 20 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great
granddaughter, two daughters-in-law; Marvella Anderson of Alexandria,
MN, and Genny Anderson of Sioux City, one sister-in-law, Ruby Whiting of
Aurelia, many nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
