LYLE WEATHERMAN
Funeral services for Lyle Weatherman, 84, of
Aurelia, formerly of Peterson, will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 27, 2006,
at the St. John’s United Church of Christ, rural Peterson. Burial will
be in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00 P.M. to
8:00 P.M., with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Redig
Funeral Home in Aurelia. Graveside military rights will be conferred by
the Dean-Underwood American Legion Post #10 of Peterson, IA.
Lyle died Wednesday, May 24, 2006, at the
Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Lyle Christian Weatherman was born on
February 3, 1922, the son of Jesse D. and Verna (Harker) Weatherman in
Mountain Grove, Missouri. He graduated from the Aurelia High School in
1939. Lyle served in the US Navy during WWII. On August 29, 1959, Lyle
married Nancy Caroline Sickels in Dakota City, NE. They farmed south of
Aurelia before moving to Peterson. He was a member of the St. John’s
United Church of Christ. Lyle had received an award from the Governor
of Iowa for volunteer work, and enjoyed fishing, gardening, bowling, and
playing cards. Lyle had been a resident of Sunset Knoll Retirement Home
in Aurelia since May 28, 2004.
Preceding Lyle in death were his parents,
and two brothers, Van and Jesse Dean Weatherman.
Survivors include his
wife Nancy of Peterson, four children; Debra and her husband Dale
Saathoff of Sioux Rapids, Roger and his wife Kathy Weatherman of
Sutherland, Janet and her husband Lynn Laursen of Aurelia, and Larry
Weatherman of Bedford, VA, seven grandchildren, April Voutas, Rachel
Lyman, Christopher Laursen, Elizabeth Laursen, Jesse Weatherman, Erin
Laursen, and Evan Laursen, and five great-grandchildren, Matthew,
Austin, Michaela, Nicholas, and Alisa, and other relatives and friends.
