PHYLLIS BARNEY
Funeral services for Phyllis Barney, 77, of
Aurelia will be held Saturday, March 31, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. at the First
Congregational Church in Aurelia with Pastor Bruce Rapp officiating.
Graveside services will be Monday at 10:30 A.M. in the Onawa Cemetery,
Onawa, Iowa. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M., with the family
present from 6:00 to 8:00, at the Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia.
Phyllis Phynetta Comfort was
born December 10, 1929 on a farm northwest of Blencoe, Iowa, the
daughter of Richard and Etta (Boyd) Comfort. She graduated from the
Blencoe High School in 1947. She then attended National Business
Training School in Sioux City and was employed with Mutual of Omaha
Insurance Business for fifteen years in Omaha, NE. On July 11, 1959 she
was united in marriage to Farrell Barney at the Congregational Church in
Blencoe. They resided in Omaha where their two daughters, Pamela and
Patricia were born. In 1971 they moved to Aurelia, Iowa. Phyllis was
employed in the City Clerks office for nine years. She was an active
member in the First Congregational Church in Aurelia, serving on several
boards and as a member of the Women’s Fellowship and Circles.
Phyllis died Wednesday, March
28, 2007, at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
Preceding Phylllis in death were
her parents, and two brothers, Kenneth and Donald Comfort.
Survivors
include her husband Farrell of Aurelia, two daughters, Pam and her
husband Kevin Sligar of Monett, MO, and Pat and her husband Marlyn Fry
of Estherville, two grandchildren, Haleigh and Drew Sligar, two
brothers, Merle and his wife Theo Comfort of Omaha, and John and his
wife Joyce Comfort of Blencoe, two sisters-in-law, Doris Comfort of CT,
and Edna Comfort of Onawa, mother-in-law Esther Barney of Onawa, nieces
and nephews and other relatives and friends.
