Richard (Dick) Lee Aduddell, 80, of
Aurelia, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at the Sunset Knoll
Nursing & Rehab Center in Aurelia. There will be no visitation or
services at this time. The Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia is in charge
of arrangements.
Richard was born February 14, 1928, in Ida
Grove, Iowa, the son of Lester and Esther (Ferguson) Aduddell. Richard
was inducted into the US Navy on September 25, 1945 and was honorably
discharged on February 11, 1949, having served on the USS Henry R.
Kenyon and the USS Helena. Then Richard joined the National Guard until
being honorable discharged on May 7, 1951. On December 14, 1952 Richard
was united in marriage to Alberta Ann Hintz at the St. Paul Lutheran
Church in Ida Grove. To this union five children were born. Richard
worked as a carpenter for Ament Construction in Cherokee, and later on
his own being a finishing carpenter who worked on the Cherokee County
Court House and several other buildings in the area. He enjoyed hunting
and fishing, working on old cars, being around his daughter’s horses,
and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing
cards.
Preceding Richard in death were his parents,
two brothers; Eugene and Duane Aduddell, and one sister; Dolores Wood,
one brother-in-law; Luverne Hintz, and a sister-in-law and her husband
Lorraine and Warren Perrin.
Survivors include his
wife Alberta of Aurelia; three sons, Douglas Aduddell of Cherokee,
Darrell Aduddell of Storm Lake, and Ross Aduddell of Cherokee, two
daughters, Amy and her husband Harry Buck of Colorado Springs, CO, and
Janette and her husband Allan Sears of Cleghorn, IA, 12 grandchildren
and 9 great-grand children. Also surviving are one sister, Phyllis and
her husband William Eickholt of Cherokee, two sisters-in-law Shirley
Aduddell of Cherokee and Helen Hintz of Sioux City, and many nieces and
nephews.
