ROJANE B. WITCOMBE
Funeral services for RoJane B. Witcombe, 78,
of Aurelia will be Thursday, May 5, 2011, at 10:30 A.M. at the First
United Methodist Church in Aurelia, with Pastor Missy Brown officiating.
Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Cherokee. Visitation will be
held at the United Methodist Church on Wednesday with the family present
from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. An Order of the Eastern Star service will
be held at 7:00 P.M. The Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia is in charge of
arrangements. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
RoJane died on Saturday, April 30, 2011, at
the Sunset Knoll Care & Rehab Center in Aurelia.
RoJane Berdene Johnson was born January 25,
1933, the daughter of Elmer N. and Lorette (Johnson) Johnson at Wahoo,
NE. She graduated from Ceresco High School in 1950. On June 6, 1954 she
married Howard Dean Witcombe at the Evangelical Covenant Church in
Ceresco, NE. Jane worked various secretarial positions before becoming a
daycare owner/operator. She and her husband were also foster parents to
several children. After years of baking and catering for others, she
finally fulfilled her dream of owning a Swedish-style bakery, RoJane’s
Baka Butik. Jane went on to work as a bookkeeper, doing taxes, at
McDonald, Sayre and Wittgraph in Cherokee, retiring in 2000.
RoJane was a member of the First United
Methodist Church, past president of United Methodist Women, and a past
matron of OES. She enjoyed bowling, golf, photography, baking, cooking,
playing cards, singing and being a member of the church choir.
Preceding RoJane in death were her parents
and her son Shawn Witcombe.
Survivors include her husband Howard of
Aurelia, one daughter, Shelley A. Witcombe and her husband Don Bossung
of Lincoln, NE, two sons; Scott Witcombe of Cherokee and Shane and his
wife Kim Witcombe of Stuart, FL, and one grandson, Sean Witcombe of
Cherokee. Also surviving are two brothers; Merlin Johnson and Harlan and
his wife Sharon Johnson all of Ceresco, NE, two sisters; Sheral and her
husband Earl Johnson and Linda and her husband Fred Schwartz all of
Lincoln, NE, two brothers-in-law; Don and his wife Marlene Witcombe and
Ron and his wife Jan Witcombe all of Cherokee, and nieces and nephews,
and other relatives and friends.
