RUBY WHITING
Funeral services for Ruby
Whiting, 88, of Aurelia, will be Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 10:30
A.M., at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia, with Pastor Missy
Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural
Aurelia. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Redig
Funeral Home in Aurelia.
Ruby Arlene White was born
September 13, 1920, at Washta, IA, the daughter of Thomas Charles and
Marguerite (Diefenbach) White. She attended Grand Meadow School,
graduating in 1937. Ruby then attended Business College in Sioux City
for two years. Ruby worked for four years in Washington DC in a Military
Intelligence office. On December 28, 1949, Ruby married Lyle Robert
Whiting at the Methodist Church in Sioux City, IA. She worked for the
Moore Abstract Company in Cherokee, and the Farmer’s National Bank in
Aurelia.
Ruby was a member of the First
United Methodist Church in Aurelia, and the DAR in Cherokee, and she
enjoyed doing genealogy and playing golf.
Ruby died Tuesday, January 6,
2009, at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee, Iowa.
Preceding Ruby in death were her
parents, her husband Lyle on January 9, 2006, and infant son, three
sisters, Leona Sarber, Julia Patrick, and Beulah White, and four
brothers, Ted, Raymond, Cecil, and Robert White.
Survivors include one son, Kirk
and his wife Kay Whiting of Chicago, IL, three grandchildren, Tony
Smith, Preston Whiting, and Brittney Whiting, one great-grandson,
Trendell Preston Whiting, and one brother, Kenneth and his wife Bonnie
White of Minnesota, nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
