Funeral services for Russell
Robinson, 77, of Cherokee, formerly of Aurelia, will be 10:30 A.M.
Friday, March 10, 2006 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee, with
Pastor Richard Arndt officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill
Cemetery, Aurelia. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00
P.M., with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00, at the Redig Funeral
Home in Aurelia.
Russell died Monday, March 6,
2006, at home in Cherokee.
Russell Keith Robinson was born October 2,
1928, the son of John and Violet (Powell) Robinson in Sioux City, IA.
Russell attended school in Marcus, and later the Police Academy. On
April 6, 1949 Russell married Velma Louise Saxby in Cherokee. To this
union four children were born, Jeff, Nancy, June, and Cindy. Russell
worked for the railroad, the Cherokee Creamery, and as Police Chief in
Aurelia, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Cherokee Ridge
Runners, and enjoyed making black powder guns, hunting and fishing.
Velma died September 21, 2002. On November 1, 2004, Russell married
Goldie (Pedersen) Fowler.
Preceding Russell in death were
his parents, his wife Velma, two brothers, John, Jr. and Melvin, and one
sister-in-law, Erma Barry.
Survivors include his wife Goldie of
Cherokee, one son, Jeff Robinson of Cherokee, three daughters Nancy and
her husband Rufus Daniels of Troy Mills, IA, June and her husband Mike
Hanson and Cindy and her husband Mike Dailey all of Cherokee, and three
step-sons, Everett and his wife Lisa Fowler of Aurelia, Tom and his wife
Judy Fowler of Kansas City, MO, and Ray and his wife Alice Fowler of
Kansas City, KS. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, 7
great-grandchildren, one sister, Bonnie McAllister of Brighton, CO, one
brother, Mike and his wife Gerry Robinson of Cherokee, four
sisters-in-law; Delores Robinson of Cherokee, Lois and Adrian Goth of
Meriden, Mildred Edson of Battle Creek, IA, and Virginia and her husband
Lloyd Schlinz of Cherokee, and other relatives and friends.
