WILMER L. WINTERHOF
Funeral services for Wilmer L.
Winterhof, 85, of Aurelia, will be Friday, December 24, 2010, at 10:30
A.M. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aurelia with Pastor Larry Lemke
officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural
Aurelia. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M., with
the family present, at the church. The Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia is
in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been
established.
On December 20, 2010 Wilmer Louis Winterhof
went to be with his Lord, at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center in
Cherokee, Iowa.
Wilmer was born August 25, 1925,
the son of William and Hilda (Litchenberg) Winterhof in Diamond Township
near Aurelia, IA. He attended school at Hanover. He served in the Navy
during World War II, and farmed near Aurelia until his retirement in
1987. On June 25, 1950 he married Gloria Darlene Otto at the St. John
Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Wilmer was a founding board member for
Cherokee County Rural Water, and was active at St. Paul Lutheran Church
serving on several boards. He enjoyed golfing, cards, and attending many
family activities.
Preceding Wilmer in death were
his parents, an infant son, his brothers Harry and Marvin, and his
sister Lorna Franzmeier.
Wilmer and Gloria were blessed
with five children; Gary and his wife Kim Winterhof of Cedar Falls, IA,
Bonnie and her husband Jim Lawler of Columbia, MO, Judy and her husband
John Van Heek of Crofton, NE, Dan and his wife Lynn Winterhof of
Aurelia, and Joni and her husband Larry Klawitter of Waukee, IA. They
have ten grandchildren; Heather and husband Mason Fromm, Shannon and
husband Travis Hill, Keaghan and husband Anthony Bruscheon, Andrew
Lawler, Sarah and husband Justin Grayer, Natalie and Molly Van Heek,
Tanner, Audrey, and Gracie Winterhof, and seven great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers; Orville and his wife Iona Winterhof and
Vernon and his wife Suzanne Winterhof all of Aurelia, one sister-in-law,
Dorothy Winterhof of Alta, nieces and nephews, and other relatives and
friends.
